Will the low emission zone in London affect me?
I have only learnt to dive as well as have a Ford Ka 1.3l engine, as well as am wanting to pierce to
London in a subsequent couple of months. So we wondered what turn of unpleasant costs this is starting to involve.
I cant not drive…. as this would meant we have squandered a lot of income as well as time in a past.
If we would be affected, what difficulty would my car tumble in to – i.e how most every day charge?
Also how most have been parking fees in London?
many interjection in advance

I could not tell you exactly, as it depends on where you live and how old your car is. From what I understand, the charge only applies to minibuses and larger vehicles anyway, so you might be exempt (see http://www.tfl.gov.uk/roadusers/lez/vehicles/2535.aspx).
Besides, the current Tory Mayor has suspended much of it anyway, probably for idealogical reasons, so don’t expect to see any movement on this soon.
If you want to find out more, the key links to start you off can be found here:-
https://lowemissionzone.tfl.gov.uk/b/pb/zoneResults.faces (to check if where you live is in the Zone, but if it is within a London Borough then it will be anyway).

You also asked about parking fees in London. According to http://www.whatprice.co.uk/car/parking-charges.html, you can expect from £1.50 an hour for street parking. A residential permit could cost from £100 a year.
Well, I’m sorry to **** on your parade, but if you intend to drive in central London, you must be bonkers. I did it for many years, and the levels of stress it induces are crazy. Not only that it just takes AGES to get anywhere ! I sold my car about four years ago, and have not looked back. Public transport goes everywhere, you know when you are going to arrive mostly, and you don’t have a bloody car to park when you get there ! Add to that the cost of fuel, tax, insurance, repairs and maintenance .. it does not make sense. If I need a car I can hire one. So far I have needed to do that no times !
I think that as a car driver you will be exempt from having to pay emission charges. However, if you are a newbie driver and you are wishing to drive in London, then you must have a death wish. I passed my test more years ago than I care to remember, I have driven more miles than you could shake a big stick at (all over this country, and abroad, also towing a caravan), passed advance driving tests, I have never had an accident, and I wouldn’t care to drive anywhere in London unless it was an absolute emergency.
You Ford Ka is not affected, however you may be affected by the London Congestion Charge.
The vehicles affected by the LEZ are older diesel-engined lorries, buses, coaches, large vans, minibuses and other heavy vehicles that are derived from lorries and vans, such as motor caravans and motorised horse boxes.
The low emission zone applies to ‘commercial sized’ vehicles not to private cars.
You would have to pay the congestion charge if the car is used during weekday working / commuting hours this is currently £8 per day with discounts for those living in the zone or with other special circumstances.
No. That is just for lorries and buses.
I think you are confusing it with the congestion charge.
This is £8 payable when entering the central zone Mon-Fri during peak hours. You can pay online or at a shop displaying the sign.
If you must drive into central London, parking is incredibly expensive. It can be up to £10 an hour in some parts of Westminster. Most people don’t bring their cars into central London because the tube / train / bus network is so good and much quicker than driving.
You will probably find that you only use your car at the weekends and in the evenings to go food shopping etc. You’ll probably end up commuting in on public transport like everyone else.
