As long as you confide with the staff to keep an eye on her for safety then I think there shouldn’t be a problem. I think the staff should make sure she is okay every now and then, if not then someone should volunteer to take her down. But I think arranging this with the staff is worth a try and see what they say. I hope they agree to keep an eye especially if theres no one else to travel with her. I wish you luck. Usually the only staff I see are the ticket inspectors but maybe she can sit in the front carriage near the train driver. I ha vent been on long journey on trains yet but I think there should be someone on hand to guide them.

asking the train staff to keep an eye on her sounds good in theory, but in practice the train crew is likely to change somewhere along the way … also the train staff have enough to do and haven’t got much time for keeping an eye on people … whether or not it’s safe for her depends a lot on how mature she is … is she used to travelling on her own on public transport at home? … if she’s mature, streetwise and used to travelling then I’d say yes

Yes its perfectly safe. The train will be crowded with other passengers and as well as the train manager and ticket checker there are catering staff on board; they pass through the train regularly and she can always walk through the train to see them. If you contact the train operator East Coast in advance, they will keep a special eye on her http://www.eastcoast.co.uk
