On the outskirts there are two large shopping centres, Lakeside and Bluewater. There are no malls really in Central London.

England has been adopting the mall “experience” so you will find several in the London area – but the best shopping is sitll to be found in small back streets where you can get bargains and amazing finds. Basically where the shops are different & not the same old ones in EVERY mall.

They are becoming more common now, but high street shops are still in all towns.

By MR Hole,

no there are a few shops scattered hear and their, most of them sell a thing called a saveloy, disgusting, if you want proper shop like we have .. come over to Ireland,,, (nice)

By SLF

no, not really. There are a couple of big out-of-town malls in the American style but these are 30 miles or so from London.
Generally London just has normal shops in normal streets, though you do get the occasional small mall, usually full of boring chain stores.
I think we’re not sold on the idea of spending all day indoors – we enjoy browsing the shops in the old-fashioned way, with fresh air!

we do, but not on such a large scale, out of town shopping is growing but we have less room for development. England fits into califonia 17 times??? If you want to shop, do it at home, prices are much cheaper in the states due to the amount of compitition. With the exchange rate things cost at least twice as much in the uk.

ps why do you always say london, england we dont’ say new york america. london is a fairly well known place with a bit of history!!!

By J_B

of course it does!!!!!!!!
We don’t live the dark ages you know. I went to L.A recently it is ALOT cheaper in your country than mine!!!!
We normally pay the same price as you in £
eg Jeans £50 in UK $50 in the states (uk is rip off)!!!!

No it is all side shops there no big malls. The biggest store where the queen shops is Harrods!

By E15

yes. there is Lakeside, Brent Cross and Bluewater. All American style malls within or very close to the perimeters of London.

Yes we have malls, and running water and electric light…we have progressed so far its amazing…..lol

By Angel

Yeah, but we don’t call them Malls,
They are Shopping Centres.

By colin ---why?

Birmingham , England is So under rated by a lot of British people. We have a shopping area in our clean city centre, called the Bull Ring, that is the envy of the rest of England, thats why no one here has mentioned it yet!!! We manufacture the choicest jewellery, in our jewellery quarter, that is world renowned.—I could go on, but —well—-Birmingham is the best kept secret in Europe. And thats a fact
